Day 8 Update

Day 8 of Lavinia’s Road Trip for Reclaim Life officially marks one week on the road for Lavinia, Harry and Paul! 🌻 So far they have travelled from Leighton Buzzard to London and onto Margate, Brighton and Hove, Bridport, Minehead, Carmarthen and Porthmadog. And Day 8 certainly proved to be an eventful one for Lavinia, Harry and Paul, travelling north 150 miles from Porthmadog in Wales up to Blackpool!

After completing a number of checks on Lavinia last night, as well as readjusting the brakes, Lavinia, Harry and Paul set off heading for Bangor. Lavinia started off no trouble in the morning, travelling up and over the long climbs of the A487, revealing a view of Anglesey and the Menai Strait. Unfortunately it wasn’t long before she started to cough and search for fuel. Harry and Paul pulled off near Caernarfon to check the filter in the carb and the jet. Thankfully Paul was able to do the repairs and worked his mechanical magic. After adjusting the points Lavinia was back to full power and ready to hit the road again.

Lavinia travelled through the Conwy Tunnel to Llandudno Junction, onto Colwyn Bay, admiring the mediterranean blue seas of North Wales and then across the border to Birkenhead. Time for another tunnel, travelling through the Birkenhead tunnel, under the Mersey before heading into Liverpool.

Throughout the day Lavinia, Harry and Paul met a number of people along their journey, including two friends from the Talbot Owners’ Club, Glyn and Howard (not forgetting Delilah) for a spot of lunch at Crosby Lakeside Adventure Centre.

Lavinia, Harry and Paul were then headed further north when there was a breakdown with a sudden loss of power just outside Southport. Paul spent some time changing the points so that Lavinia could carry them on the remaining 25 miles to Blackpool. God bless the late Martyn Bryant for his advice on what spares to carry! Lavinia, Harry and Paul eventually made it to Blackpool for a well deserved rest after a busy day.
