Day 9 Update
Day 9 of Lavinia’s Road Trip for Reclaim Life started off in sunny Blackpool, however Lavinia was not running well again so Paul spent some more time under the bonnet. Lavinia had a new set of points fitted yesterday but she hasn’t been running quite the same since then so Paul needed to fit another set of points – the second set in two days!
It wasn’t long before Lavinia was fit and well once more and back on the road, travelling along the A6 towards Lancaster. Overall it was a day of ups and downs, both with the roadways and mechanical problems. Lavinia is having reoccurring problems with her distributor and points (the mechanism in a car that regulates the ignition spark for an old petrol engine). They came to a stop several times during the day but Paul managed to fix this each time. Luckily Lavinia behaved herself on the 30 mile stretch of the A6 up to Shap Fell which is a notoriously challenging road.
From there they continued on the A6 to travel all the way up to the Scottish border and then at Gretna Green they turned north west onto Dumfries. In the evening, a Reclaim Life talk was hosted at the Cairndale Hotel with a good response and lots of people there. Paul wanted to keep going so no time for a photo shoot but plenty of footage from when they were on the move.
Lavinia, Harry and Paul have now clocked up around 1,000 miles in total so far travelling through sun, rain and everything in between.
